There are a variety of day trips available outside of Angkor Complex or Siem Reap’s city centre, such as visits to a local weaving village, a shooting range, Kbal Spean, Kulen mountain, Beng Melea, Koh Ker and Bird Sanctuary at Tonle Sap Lake.
Another popular visit is to Rolous Group, which is Eastern part of Siem Reap. Rolous Group, the former capital city of Khmer Empire since 9 century, is a good way to learn about the history of the area and see remains.
The must-see, can-not-miss day trip is the Kulen Mountain 70 km northern part of the city, Beng Melea 70 km away from the city, Banteay Srei and Kbal Spean.. This sight can be easily reached by a nice trip through rural Cambodia via taxi, depending on how much money visitors wish to pay.
